Latest on Flu Vaccinations for Children Under 5 Years

The Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer continues to advise that we do not administer the 2010 Seasonal Influenza vaccination to children under 5 years who do not have any risk factors for severe influenza infection. If your child is under 10 years and has received 1 dose of the 2010 seasonal flu vaccination and requires a booster dose, we recommend that this booster be the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccination. As this vaccination is administered from a multi-dose vial we aim to keep wastage to a minimum. For this reason we will only be administering the vaccination on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Please make an appointment with our nurse who will administer the vaccine for you.

If your child is under 5 years and medically at risk from severe influenza infection, then it may still be recommended they receive the seasonal flu vaccine. Please make an appointment to discuss this with your doctor.

We will be updating this information regularly as changes occur.

Shared Antenatal Care

We love looking after our pregnant women. Our doctors are involved in caring for women through pregnancy in conjunction with the hospital or obstetrician. Each consultation occurs approximately every month once the woman has been assessed by the hospital or obstetrician as being suitable for this style of care. For more information please call Cremorne Medical Practice on 9908 2233

Recreational Diving Medicals

A Cremorne Medical Practice (CMP) Diving Medical Examination is derived from South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society (SPUMS) guidelines to individuals considering entry-level recreational compressed air diving. It involves a thorough body systems examination which focuses on assessing general fitness sufficient to cope with the potentially arduous diving environment & on identifying risk factors to ensure a suitable baseline for the safe conduct of recreational scuba diving.

The examination begins with the completion of a health questionnaire (please fill this in prior to the consultation and bring it with you), which is followed by a focussed examination with one of our experienced practice nurses, including lung function tests & audiometry.

This will immediately be followed by an assessment by our Underwater Medicine qualified Doctor, who will assess the compiled information in combination with a thorough physical examination to make an overall assessment as to fitness to dive. Further investigation such as chest x-ray, ECG, fasting blood tests &/or referral for specialist opinion may be required, but generally only if significant risks are identified.
